One Evening in February

Hints of clover in the kitchen
Dye the air with thoughts of spring
Dew-kissed toes and playful laughter
Sent to fly on joyous wings

Copper pot begins its chatter
Soon sweet flavors spring to life
I on tip-toe spy with pleasure
Dance to rhythms played by knife

Stars make patterns in the window
Shows for nature’s greatest fans
David stares as one enraptured
By the heavens’ cosmic plans

Mother, father, “Dinner’s ready!”
All thus come to table set
Fam’ly, party, group unhindered
Needs of heart and body met
